The City of Duarte has prohibited the discharge of all fireworks including safe and sane (Duarte Municipal Code Section 15.05.011-Prohibition on sale or discharge) DMC 15.05.011

To ensure the safety of all residents, business owners and visitors to the City of Duarte, the Duarte Public Safety Department will be deploying additional personnel along with members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department during the days and nights immediately preceding and on the 4th of July. Deputies have been directed to issue citations to anyone who lights fireworks anywhere within the City.

Warning to Those Who are Tempted to Ignore Fireworks Laws...

  • The Public Safety department and City have made it very well known about our fireworks laws through various media outlets and advertising venues

  • The fine for lighting fireworks is $1000 (Duarte Municipal Code Section 15.05.100-Penalties for violation) DMC 15.05.100

  • With the popularity of our social media program, we have more witnesses and people willing to report locations and violators to us. This means more people will be watching and reporting this year!

  • Our Public Safety and Sheriff's Department Personnel will be in patrol cars, regular cars, uniform or plain clothes. You're taking a risk!

To report the discharge of fireworks, please contact Temple Sheriff’s Station at (626) 285-7171.
