Business licenses are required for all individuals or companies that operate in the City of Duarte. Business licenses may be purchased from the Finance Department. Business licenses are valid for one year from date of purchase unless otherwise indicated.

Vehicles that are unlawfully parked may be cited and or towed away at the owner’s expense. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and City officers are responsible for enforcing parking regulations.

All-night street parking restricted. No person shall park any vehicle on any "restricted street" between the hours of 3-6 AM on any day (view restricted street info).

In order to better accommodate the public with their over night parking needs The City of Duarte now has a parking permit kiosk located at 1600 Huntington Drive, in front of City Hall. The Kiosk is accessible 24 hours a day/7 days a week or you can purchase an overnight parking permit via Flowbird mobile app. For more information please visit the Flowbird website.

You are no longer required to leave a voice mail message with the Duarte Public Safety Office when you are in need of an overnight temporary parking permit, as permits are available to residents and guests 24 hours a day/7 days a week via the kiosk or mobile app.

All properties, both commercial and residential, are required to be maintained free of nuisances and blight. Homes and businesses that are well kept improve our community. The Public Safety Department is responsible for the enforcement of all applicable codes.

All vendors are required to have the appropriate Solicitors or Peddlers permit as well as a Los Angeles County Health permit if applicable. Please report vendor violations to the Public Safety Department at (626) 357-7938 or Temple Sheriff’s Station at (626) 285-7171.

All vehicles are required to be currently licensed and fully operable if they are parked within public view. Vehicles that don't run or have a certificate of non-operation must be parked in a fully enclosed building (garage).

Most residential properties within the City of Duarte are zoned R-1 (single family). Garages that are converted into living quarters or that are used for other than storage may be in violation. Animal Leash Laws Dogs are required to be leashed at all times when off the owner’s property, (except when being transported in a vehicle). Leashes may not exceed six feet in length and must be controlled by a competent individual. Animals are impounded at San Gabriel Valley Humane Society located at 851 E. No animal may make any noise or cry that would disturb a person of normal sensitivity regardless of the time of day. If you have any problems or questions regarding a noisy animal, please contact Public Safety Animal Control Division at (626) 357-7938.

Unauthorized removal or possession-Prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to remove or cause to be removed any cart from a business establishment or a parking facility without the prior written consent of the owner.

Persons found in possession of shopping carts or laundry carts outside the premises of the owner or caught removing a shopping cart from the business’s parking lot may be subject to citation.
