Commissions study and report to the City Council on any matter referred to it for such action by the City Council.

There are currently five commissions and one Mayor's Youth Council. The City establishes ad hoc committees as needed.

The City recently went through a restructuring of the City Commissions. The modifications went into effect on January 1, 2023. To learn more about the newly restructured City of Duarte Commissions, please view the Commission Summaries below.

Serve on a Committee or Commission

Members of the commission are appointed for terms of four years commencing on January 1 (even years) of the year of appointment and terminating on December 31 of the fourth year thereafter. If vacancies occur, other than by expiration of term, they are filled by appointment for the unexpired portion of the term. 

The commission elects a chairperson and vice-chairperson from among its appointed members for one-year terms.
