Community Emergency Response Team

The County of Los Angeles Fire and the City of Duarte Public Safety Department annually host a CERT training for the Duarte Community and members of the public. All graduates are welcome to join the Duarte CERT Program! The training course presents as a series of five (5) classes over a three week period in the Duarte Community Center, 1600 Huntington Drive, Duarte, CA. The FEMA certified course curriculum will cover the following modules:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • CERT Organization
  • Disaster Psychology
  • Terrorism & CERT
  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Disaster Fire Safety

Following a major disaster, police, fire and medical professionals may not be able to fully meet the demand. People will have to rely on each other to meet the immediate life saving and life sustaining needs, particularly in isolated neighborhoods that may be cut off from the main roads for a period of time. To meet this need, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program was developed to provide basic training in safety and life-saving skills for the general public.

To enroll or get information, contact: Tony Hadloc, Duarte CERT Program Coordinator, CERT@accessduarte.com or by phone at 626-357-7938.

*Students must complete all hours of the course to receive a certificate of completion. Note: All students must be at least 18 years of age OR 14 if a parent is attending too.
