Black/Gray Containers

Refuse will be collected in black or gray containers. Burrtec will label and use this color scheme for refuse containers. Non-organic and non-recyclable waste materials will only be permitted to be placed in the black or gray containers. Inert materials such as dirt, rock, and concrete are not permitted in black or gray containers. Burrtec will transport the material to a fully permitted transfer facility or landfill for proper disposal.

Green Containers

Automated green waste collection is provided once a week on regular trash collection days. An automated green 60 gallon barrel is provided and additional automated green barrels are available for a fee. Residents may also use their own barrels, no more than 32 gallons each barrel, and/or tied 4’x2’ bundles for excess green waste. The excess green waste must be accompanied by the Burrtec issued green barrel in order to complete the collection. Items that should be placed in the green waste container include yard waste such as:

  • Grass clippings

  • Tree and shrub trimmings

  • Prunings

  • Weeds

  • Leaves

  • Brush

  • Twigs & small branches

Beginning Fall of 2022, organic waste will also need to be placed in the green container. Organic waste includes:

  • Fruit and vegetable peels

  • Coffee grounds

  • Beef, poultry and fish

  • Dairy products and egg shells

  • Bread, pasta, rice and grains

  • Food-soiled paper, such as napkins, paper towels, tea bags and coffee filters

Blue Containers

Automated recyclables collection is provided once a week on regular trash collection days. A blue 60-gallon barrel is provided and an additional blue barrel is available at no charge by calling Burrtec. Remember recyclables can be mixed together. Recyclable materials should be placed in the blue container, including:

  • Glass bottles & jars

  • Plastic bottles & containers

  • Aluminum & metal cans

  • Paper, cartons & cardboard

Check out this list of Acceptable and Non-Acceptable Recyclable Items. If it’s not on the list, give Burrtec a call at 800-325-9417 and they will check it out.
