Dog Licenses

All dogs over the age of 4 months are required to be licensed.

Purchase In-Person 

Dog licenses may be purchased in-person at two locations, Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM to 6 PM:

Duarte Public Safety Office
1042 Huntington Drive (next to Target Store)
Duarte, CA 91010
The Public Safety Office is also open on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 AM to 4 PM.

Purchase By Mail

Licenses may also be purchased by mail. If registering by mail, please send a valid rabies certificate for the entire licensing period (July 2024-June 2025) and if appropriate, a valid sterilization certificate for spayed or neutered animals and the appropriate license fee (no cash; see fee schedule below) to:

Check or money order made payable to City of Duarte. Your documents and new dog license will be mailed back to you.

Dog License Fee Schedule

  1. Non Spayed/Neutered: $60.00

  2. Spayed/Neutered: $25.00

  3. Senior Citizens (age 65) 1 FREE license per household for a Spay or Neutered Dog

Dog Licenses must be purchased by August 31st of every year to avoid being charged a penalty. Rates including penalty after August 31st are as follows:

  1. Non Spayed/Neutered: $120.00

  2. Spayed/Neutered: $85.00

Cats 

Although cats are not required to have licenses in Duarte, cat owners may purchase a license to help ensure the return of your furry friend should it become lost. Cat license fees are $20.00 if spayed or neutered, and $40.00 for non-neutered cats.
