The Duarte Farmer’s Market, a weekly open-air market where residents and visitors in the Duarte area can find the very best just-picked seasonal produce as well as food trucks and local bakeries selling breads and sweets, is celebrating National Farmers Market Week on Wednesday, August 10 from 4 - 7:30 PM (rain or shine). The Duarte Farmer’s Market will host several free family fun activities on that day. National Farmers Market Week honors the farmers and vendors who support healthy communities, food systems and local economies. The Duarte Farmer’s Market accepts cash, debit and credit cards, and SNAP/EBT cards, providing those with limited incomes access to fresh, healthy foods. National Farmers Market Week Festivities
The Duarte Farmer’s Market will host a local celebration in honor of National Farmers Market Week on Wednesday, August 10 including:
- A scavenger hunt offering a chance to win a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables. Children who participate in the scavenger hunt will receive a free bubble machine (while supplies last).
- Free food samples.
- Thank a Farmer. At the market, visitors can thank the farmers who provide healthy food. Simply fill out a Thank You card and drop it in the box at the customer service booth.
- Live Music.
- Social Media fun, including:
- Temporary Tattoo Photo Contest. Stop by the Duarte Farmers Market and get a free temporary tattoo. Post a photo featuring the tattoo to Instagram with the hashtag #LoveMyMarket and tag @DuarteFarmersMarket by August 13 for a chance to win $25 in Market Bucks redeemable for produce and products at the Duarte Farmer’s Market.
- Market Haul Photo Contest. Post a photo of your fruits and vegetables “haul” from the Duarte Farmers Market on Instagram with the hashtag #myDFMhaul and tag @DuarteFarmersMarket by August 13th. The Duarte Chamber of Commerce staff will pick two photos to win some awesome prizes including Market Bucks and Route 66 T-shirts.
- Trivia Contest. During National Farmers Market Week (Aug. 7-13, 2022) we are holding a trivia contest on Facebook @DuarteChamber. One winner will be randomly selected per day to receive $5 in Market Bucks redeemable for produce and products at the Duarte Farmer’s Market.
- Selfie Photo Backdrop. A colorful backdrop will be available for selfies and social contest photos.
- More Contests and Prizes. Follow along for chances to win random prizes through the week, including free food from market vendors for a family picnic.
